Some of the most common ways for water to come in are...
1. Through the floor cracks...due to hydrostatic pressure from the rising water table under basement floor.
2. From under the footer.
3. Over the footer...water seeks a "path of least resistance" when it can no longer get into the seep tile that have clogged over time. This is the most common way water enters a basement.
4. Through wall cracks and cracks in mortar joints...water passes through the cracks, filling hollow block cores-resulting in leakage and loss of "dead-air" insulation. That's why damp basements are usually cold.
5. From bleeding and sweating of walls...the outside coating or "purging" dries out and cracks over time. Hydrostatic pressure (from the high water table and infiltration of ground water),causes the walls to soak-up moisture like a "hard sponge" and wick it through to the inside of the basement.
6. Tie backs...steel ties eventually rust out and leave a small opening.
Why should I fix my basement?
The most common reasons are a healthier living environment, increased living and storage space, avoiding further damage to belongings, increased property value and peace of mind. Fixing the problem can alleviate mold and mildew, which can cause allergies. Fungus, which can cause cold and respiratory ailments. Termites and rodents can enter home through foundation cracks and what about electrical shock hazards? Continuous water will eventually deteriorate the concrete or block causing structural problems that could get serious.
Being that homeowners are staying in their homes longer, Basement Waterproofing needs are becoming more of a necessity. Not only is repairing a wet or damp basement the right thing to do, it's what you need to do if you want to finish it off at some point, expanding your living area.

Waterproofing - Outside or Inside - We do the work ourselves so we know it's done right and we guarantee it!
32 years of experience shows!
Picture to right...Future Bosses in training.
We prefer to waterproof from the outside so we can stop the water before it comes in. We dig down to your foundation, clean wall, tuck point and waterproof with our air gap membrane system. If we can only do it from the inside that's ok too, because we guarantee both.
